Move Your Body Out of Pain
A movement-based programme that works at the neurological level — not the tissue level — to resolve chronic pain, restore joint mobility, and improve brain health.
Built on the same sequence Nick Moss has used in clinic for over 12 years — and used personally to resolve his own chronic hip pain after years of military service.
Pain Is a Nervous System Output. Not a Tissue Problem.
Most chronic pain approaches target tissue — stretch the muscle, strengthen the joint, release the fascia. And for acute injuries, that makes sense. But for chronic pain that has persisted for months or years, the tissue is rarely the primary driver.
What is driving it is the nervous system. Specifically, the brain's threat perception system — which, once activated by injury, stress, or accumulated load, can maintain pain signals long after the original tissue has healed.
This is why you can have a clear MRI and still be in pain. Why you've done the physio, the massage, the stretching — and the relief is temporary at best. The tissue is fine. The neurological pattern is not.
"The nervous system is either the barrier or the breakthrough. This programme works directly with the barrier."
Six Modules. One Clear Path.
Each module builds on the last — from understanding the neurological basis of pain through to a complete self-directed movement practice.
Understanding Pain Through a Neurological Lens
Why pain is a nervous system output, not a tissue problem. How the brain constructs pain signals and what that means for resolution.
- The neuroscience of chronic pain
- Why tissue-focused approaches often fail
- How the brain maintains pain loops
The Movement-Neurology Connection
How specific movement patterns directly communicate with the brain and nervous system to reduce threat perception and pain output.
- How movement signals safety to the brain
- The role of proprioception in pain regulation
- Why some movements amplify pain and others resolve it
Joint Decompression & Tension Release
Targeted joint decompression techniques that relieve mechanical tension and reset neurological patterns holding the body in a guarded state.
- Decompression sequences for the spine, hips, and shoulders
- Releasing the neurological grip on restricted joints
- Restoring range of motion without force
The Clinical Movement Sequence
The exact movement protocol Nick uses in clinic — applied to chronic pain, post-injury recovery, and long-term restriction.
- Step-by-step clinical movement sequence
- How to apply it to your specific pain pattern
- Progressions for ongoing improvement
Brain Health Through Movement
How targeted movement improves neuroplasticity, cognitive function, and emotional regulation — not just physical pain.
- The brain-body feedback loop
- Movement protocols for neuroplasticity
- How physical pain and mental load are connected
Building a Sustainable Movement Practice
How to maintain the gains, prevent regression, and build a long-term movement practice that keeps the nervous system regulated.
- Maintenance protocols for lasting results
- How to read your own nervous system signals
- Building movement as a neurological health practice
- You've had chronic pain for months or years and standard approaches have plateaued
- Your scans come back clear but you're still in pain
- You've done physio, massage, or stretching and the relief doesn't last
- You want to understand what is actually driving your pain, not just manage it
- You're willing to approach pain from a neurological perspective
- You want a self-directed programme you can do at home, at your own pace
- You are in acute post-surgical recovery and require clinical supervision
- You are looking for a high-intensity fitness programme
- You want a passive treatment — this programme requires your active participation
- You are not open to a neurological explanation for your pain
Nick Moss
Nick Moss is a functional neurologist and integrative health practitioner with over 15 years in clinical practice and more than 10,000 clinical hours. He switched to a neurological approach over 12 years ago — at a time when functional neurology was barely on the radar in Australia.
The movement sequence in this programme is the same one Nick developed and refined in clinic over more than a decade. He also used it personally — to resolve a chronic hip impingement sustained during his years as an Australian Army infantry soldier and Assault Pioneer, an injury that had prevented him from running for close to a decade.
He can now run without restriction. At 43, his brain and body function better than they did in his early twenties. That is not age. That is what happens when you address the neurological load.
